The Last Year Has Taken A Toll On Americans’ Savings

  • A new GoBankingRates survey finds 40% of Americans have less than $300 in their savings account, while 50% have less than $600
  • 57.4% of folks have less than $1,000 in savings, which is down from 69% in 2019
  • 63% of people say their personal finances were affected by the pandemic, with that number increasing to 75% for those 25 to 34
  • The number of folks who admit to living paycheck-to-paycheck increased to 36.5% last year, as compared to 33% in December, 2019
