The Fox is celebrating 40 years of being North Iowa and Southern Minnesota’s Rock Station. It all starts in 1978 when it was KZEV ‘Rock 103’ in Clear Lake. Over the years, the station has grown in leaps and bounds thanks to the late Mad Hatter and his amazing staff. Building the station from the ground up, the crew have made their mark on the community, especially the Mad Hatter’s idea to relive the days of old with the annual ‘Winter Dance Party’ at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake.
Many have come and gone over the years, and some have returned (including our own Bruce Wasenius, host of the ‘Insubordination Train’).
Thanks to everyone who showed up to our VIP party in the Cypress Room of the Surf Ballroom. Every qualifier had the chance to ‘roll the dice’ to win 40K and the Fox Firebird, along with several cash prizes. Unfortunately, no one won the 4K, but Sandy Moore of Mason City received the keys to the 1984 Pontiac Firebird.
Congrats to Sandy and also congrats to our cash runner-ups:
2nd Place: Sharron Egbert, Mason City ($400)
3rd Place: Deb Winters, Mason City ($300)
4th Place: Lori Cooper, Mason City ($200)

A big thank-you to our sponsors for this year’s 40th anniversary:
