1045a-News You Probably Didn’t Hear

Research shows that by age seven children have learned not to trust others, and not to divulge the truth to others. [That’s sad to think that it only takes seven years to turn an innocent child into a seasoned politician.]

New research reveals that massive octopuses roamed Earth’s oceans 100 million years ago. [In hindsight, the dinosaurs had the right idea staying on land.]

1115-Weird International News

Police in Italy were called after a resident reported a man had fired off a gun in his back yard. When officers arrived they found a very drunk man with a shotgun hidden behind his sofa. When officers questioned the man about why he had fired his weapon, the man said he was frustrated with his children, his marriage, his job and his favorite TV show.

A Florida couple woke up to find a drunk intruder passed out on their couch — next to a plate of food he apparently cooked for himself. When confronted, the drunk insisted he lived there… and passed out again. When a deputy arrived at the home the drunk was still asleep. The deputy woke him up and took him to jail.

1145a-HOW IRRITABLE ARE YOU?

Here’s a 5 question quiz to discover how irritable you are. It was developed at the University of British Columbia Okanagan. Feeling irritable may be a sign that you’re suffering from more serious underlying conditions. Answer each of the following questions with “yes” or “no”:

  1. I have been grumpy
  2. I have been feeling like I might snap
  3. Other people have been getting on my nerves
  4. Things have been bothering me more than they normally do
  5. I have been feeling irritable

If you answered “yes” to each of the five questions you fall into the category of “being irritable”. According to the scientists, if you’re deemed irritable it also means you may be suffering from other underlining mental health issues, including depressive symptoms, anger, hostility and neuroticism.

115p-READER SUPERIORITY COMPLEX

Reading is a wonderful hobby that’s great for your mind, but a recent survey revealed that all that book learning might literally go to a reader’s head. That’s because people who read often tend to think they’re better than everyone else, according to the research.

145p-HEAVY METAL CHAMP

Think you’ll be surprised to learn which country is the Heavy Metal champion of the world. While the UK has an average of 69 heavy metal bands per million citizens, and the U.S. has 72 bands per million, it’s Finland that holds the record at 630 heavy metal bands per million.

215p-HOW MUCH VACATION TIME WE NEED

Nothing good comes from spending day after day at the office, constantly working without taking a break. In fact, researchers have proven that taking a vacation improves overall well-being. So, how much time away from the daily grind is needed to recover from the stress and burnout of work? People need to take a vacation every two months to recover from what work does to them.

245p-GIVING IT UP

Most people have given up treating themselves to a coffee every day because it’s way too expensive. According to a new survey, 85 percent of people in the U.S. said that, if they drank coffee the previous day, they did so at home. This is a record high since researchers started following the trend in 2012.

345p-KILLER ODDS

Just to put your fears in perspective, let’s take a look at some odds: The chance of a shark killing you is 1 in 3,700,000. You’ve got a 1 in 410,000 chance of a bear killing you. So those are things you really should not worry about. What should you worry about? The person you sleep with. There is a 1 in 1,800 chance that you will be killed by an intimate partner.

445P- 3 QUICK THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN’T KNOW BEFORE I GO

1-Here’s a good reason to learn how to play the piano or paint a picture. People who pursue creative interests and hobbies have brains that are, on average, four to seven years younger than those who don’t.

2-The testicle on the left usually hangs a little lower than the one on the right. It’s also normal for one to be a little bigger than the other.

3-According to one study, dunking an Oreo in milk for three seconds gives you the optimal balance of sogginess and structural integrity (in other words, your cookie won’t melt in the milk).

DON’T FORGET TO LOVE, CARE, AND SERVE OTHERS, PUT SOME JOY IN YOUR LIFE AND DON’T BE ANXIOUS FOR ANYTHING.
