1015a- NEWS ATTACK!
A survey finds most travelers think airline food is pretty good these days. [A couple of vodka tonics before the meal service really elevates the dining experience.]
Figures show that an estimated 20 percent of the population stays online almost constantly. [In related news, 20 percent of the population has no idea what their spouse looks like anymore.]
YOUR KID EATS 5,500 SUGAR CUBES A YEAR
Public health officials (in the UK) said kids between the ages of 4 and 10 consume the equivalent of 5,500 sugar cubes a year. The sugar comes in the form of juices, soft drinks, cookies, breakfast cereals, desserts, etc. Experts say a five year old shouldn’t have more than 19 grams of sugar per day — that’s five cubes…“So basically, kids aren’t just bouncing off the walls… they’re ricocheting.”
1045a- CONGRATS, NEW MOTHER, YOU JUST RAN A MARATHON
According to research, giving birth can be as traumatic to a woman’s body as hardcore sports like running a marathon. The authors of the study (University of Michigan) said childbirth is “one of the most dramatic musculoskeletal events the human body undergoes.” And it turns out that women can get very similar injuries from childbirth as the ones serious athletes get. A quarter of women in the study had stress fractures similar to the kinds athletes often suffer. 41 percent had pelvic muscle tears, and two-thirds had injuries similar to a severe muscle strain…“Turns out moms deserve the same recovery time as pro athletes — and probably a bigger trophy.”
1115a-SOME RESOLVE TO DUMP THEIR SPOUSES _ Shedding a spouse is right up there with losing weight when it comes to New Year’s resolutions. Top divorce lawyers say they’re braced for a spike in calls that typically start the week right after New Year’s Day and last all month from men and women who want to ring in the new year by bringing the curtain down on their marriages…“Apparently the real gym in January is the lawyer’s office.”
1145a-GLOMADS
Know anyone who is a Glomad? Glomad is a mashup of global and nomad. It’s a person who travels and lives internationally without a fixed home base, working online or running businesses remotely…“So they don’t work from home… they work from wherever the Wi-Fi works.”

115p-MAKEUP COMEBACK
These days most women use gloss on their lips. That’s expected to change in 2026. Your grandma’s tube lipstick is making a comeback. Classic tube lipstick does something other lip products don’t. It adds a bit of natural polish without being too over-the-top shiny and using it makes you feel more like a grown-up… “Proof that vintage never really goes out of style — it just takes a little nap.”

145p-IMPULSE STOPPING
Are Christmas bills unpaid, but you’re still taking advantage of online sales? Before you buy, drink a glass of water or make a quick phone call. Researchers found that briefly interrupting the shopping process causes the brain’s focus to shift from “I’ve got to have it!” to “What’s this going to do to my bank account?” When you return to the computer, you’ll know if this purchase is a must-have or just impulse buying…“Turns out your wallet just needs a timeout, not a lecture.”

215p-LEMONY NICE
The trick to changing disagreeable children, coworkers and spouses? A spritz of lemon-scented air freshener. Catching a whiff of lemon made people more generous, altruistic, and happy to volunteer. The link? We subconsciously associate clean scents with good behavior, which is why they bring out the best in people. The opposite is true, too: There’s a body of research that documents a link between bad smells and aggressive behavior…“So before the argument starts… try Febreze.”

245p-GRANDMA SHOWERS
Have you heard of the “grandma showers” trend? A grandma shower is similar to a baby shower, but for the grandma-to-be rather than the parents. Some critics say it takes attention away from the mother-to-be. Supporters say a grandma shower just honors an important milestone in a woman’s life…“At this rate, the dog’s probably next in line for a shower.”

315p-GOOD MAN TEST
Here’s a test that reveals whether the guy you’re with is a good man. Tell him no. More specifically, set a boundary. Then wait and see how he responds. It’s as simple as that. If he respects your boundary and accepts it without trying to persuade you into doing what he wants, you’ve got a good human on your hands. If he tries to convince you to cross that boundary or blur it a bit in his direction, whether with sweet-talking or logical arguments, that’s a big red flag…“Boundaries: the ultimate relationship litmus test.”

345p-WHY YOU SHOULD GIVE DRY A TRY
Sticking to your Dry January pledge? We hope so. Scientists found that people who cut out alcohol completely for the month last year reported improved sleep, better mood, weight loss and even healthier liver function and blood pressure. They were also more likely to say that they lost weight, were able to concentrate better and had more energy than they did before…“Dry January: your liver and your waistline both approve.”

415p-BREAST SIZE ATTRACTION
Which size breasts do men find most attractive? Researchers found that the largest percentage of men rated medium-sized breasts as “most attractive,” followed by large, very large, small, and very small…“So the most popular size is… just right.”
